That Which is New

This is Kris agian. I got a call yesterday, confirming that I'll be performing on October 27 in Columbia, SC. It'll be an hour long gig (all they time for in the schedule), done solo, for the Region 9 Consultation on Global Mission, Hunger, and Poverty. (Region 9 covers all the ELCA congregations that would basically be considered in the South)

One surprise is that they'll make a contribution (which is always welcome), but I wasn't expecting it. The reason for that is because I was going to use this performance as a means to get the world out there about The Normies and how we'll perform for congregations that want to host hunger events. So this will be a nice "two birds with one stone" performance. Now I just need to figure out which songs I'll use...

I had never listened to Jack Johnson's soundtrack for Curious George in its entirety until last week. There are some great songs on there with the message we are shooting for! One of which is My Own Two Hands, performed with Ben Harper (who originally wrote the piece). Here are the lyrics (reading them might make you think it sounds cheesy, so I suggest you find some way to listen to it as well and you'll realize how awesome it is):
I can change the world, With my own two hands
Make it a better place, With my own two hands
Make it a kinder place, With my own two hands
With my own, With my own two hands
I can make peace on earth, With my own two hands
I can clean up the earth, With my own two hands
I can reach out to you, With my own two hands
With my own, With my own two hands
I'm going to make it a brighter place, With my own two hands
I'm going to make it a safer place, With my own two hands
I'm going to help the human race, With my own two hands
With my own, With my own two hands
I can hold you, With my own two hands
I can comfort you, With my own two hands
But you've got to use, Use your own two hands
Use your own, Use your own two hands
With our own, With our own two hands
With my own, With my own two hands
~ Make a joyful noise to the Lord.
