Performance at Cross of Christ

I gave myself a little too much time to prepare for our arrival at Cross of Christ Lutheran in Concord; I arrived about an hour earlier than I said I would. :)

Nick and I got some things set up in the sanctuary on Sunday morning, ran through a few things, and then were ready to go. One thing I've learned in my profession is that no matter how seasoned one may be with Lutheran liturgy, things are always a bit different whereever you go. So there were a few errors here and there, but fortunately God is gracious and allows for our imperfection. Additionally, the people of Cross of Christ are gracious as well. Overall, I think the worship portion of our music went smoothly, despite the problem that we may not have been loud enough. In my opinion, that is better than being too loud during worship. The songs were Reflection by Lost & Found and the hymn Just a Closer Walk With Thee.

We had a great time in the fellowship hall during the noodle lunch. Nick and I learned our lessons and did much better at selecting songs that would draw the people in. We heard a lot of complements on them all ("That's one of my favorites!" "You did marvelously with that piece." "I never thought you'd play that!").

I can't get over how welcoming the people were at Cross of Christ. Nick and I had many wonderful conversations with the members, and we realized that we had previously met several of these people or we shared mutual acquaintances/friends. One of their congregation's youth leaders mentioned having The Normies come back sometime for a youth function. Both Nick and I are open to that possibility.
